 Information Architecture


  • Are sections headings self-explanatory?
  • Can sections headings be easily memorised?
  • Do sections headings reflect without ambiguity the corresponding content?
  • Is information grouped and structured in a way that assists finding it?
  • Can information be retrieved in a reasonable time?

 Interface


  • Are interface elements legible?
  • Are interactive elements obviously click-able?
  • Does the location of elements respects conventions?
  • Is the location of elements consistent throughout?
  • Are elements with different purposes grouped in distinct areas?
  • Are top-level sections always available?
  • Does the navigation system indicate the current page location?
  • Is the local or sub-navigation above the fold?
  • Does the page width impose horizontal scrolling?
  • Is the use of frames limited?
  • Is there any plug-in required?
  • Do functions labels respect conventions?
  • Are functions labels self-explanatory?
  • Is help provided on how to use functions?
  • Do processes respect conventions?
  • Are processes broken down in steps when appropriate?
  • Are required actions or choices grouped under relevant headers?
  • Does the system respond in a reasonable time?
  • Does the system provide constant and consistent feedback?
  • Are error messages intelligible?
  • Do error messages provide contact detail for assistance when appropriate?
  • Can users cancel operations?
  • Does the system offer different ways of personalising functions and information?
  • Do functions reflect users' task flow?
  • Do functions support users' tasks adequately?

 Content and Terminology


  • Is the company activity obvious and understandable at once?
  • Are contact details provided?
  • Does each page have a unique and relevant title for book marking purpose?
  • Is content useful and relevant?
  • Is the terminology used clear and intelligible?
  • Do specific terms always refer to the same information?
  • Are headings and subheadings used?
  • Is information broken down in paragraphs of reasonable sizes?
  • Is sufficient content provided?
  • Is pages length reasonable?
  • For long documents, is there an alternative downloadable version?
  • Are links labels identical to the labels of the element/location they go to?
  • Is the usage of "click here" avoided, and relevant words used as links instead?

 Page Layout, Graphics and Colours


  • Are the fonts used legible?
  • Can the text size be increased or decreased?
  • Is the contrast between text and background sufficient?
  • Does the text alignment aids legibility?
  • Is the usage of all capital letters avoided and title case used instead?
  • Does the layout convey a sense of hierarchy?
  • Does the layout facilitate scanning?
  • Is the layout consistent throughout?
  • Is relevant content at the top?
  • Are significant elements highlighted?
  • Do graphics contribute to the content?
  • Are graphics legible?
  • Are graphics link-able when appropriate?
  • Do graphics have an alternative and meaningful text description?
  • Are graphic sizes reasonable in respect of users' bandwidth?
  • Do the colours used cater for people with visual impairment?

 Printability


  • Are all pages printable on A4 paper, without cropping the content?
  • If no, are alternative printable pages provided when appropriate?

 Download Time


  • Do pages take more than 10-12s to download?
