Observe, listen, analyse, improve.
I believe that design is about improving what surrounds us, a commitment to serve rather than impose. In that respect design goes far beyond the subjective notion of aesthetics, under which it is commonly defined and often constrained.

Good design is therefore achieved by transcending the confined world of the ego, to reach the awareness of the environment, and the understanding of the people living in it. By observing and listening, a designer gains the required insight to define a project prerequisites. By analysing these findings, what needs to be improved and how, can then be clearly stated.

When the approach to a project remains constantly focus on the intended users and their context of use, the resulting work enables users to transcend the mechanics and focus solely on what they need doing. When this is achieved, a designer truly accomplishes her mission, and convincing others of following the users' path is at times part of it.

This is the design approach I advocate and practice, and that forms ergonomica motto: observe, listen, analyse, improve.

Contributions
I am always willing to share my experience to contribute voluntary, to projects that aim at improving the way we live and do business in our society. Don't hesitate to contact me, if you think that I can be of any help.

Design Council, "Web Design For Business"
I participated to the review of the "Client Side" web design process diagram that is part of the "Web By Design" guide, published by the Design Council. The document is aimed at helping SMEs to choose design providers, and define the elements and stages involved in designing web sites.
